One of the mornings of our vacation, instead of going to the beach until noon time, we drove a mile or two to Jockey’s Ridge for the morning. It is basically just these big hills of sand, and there is a lot of wind. You can hike and climb around on them to your heart’s content. The kids really loved it. It was like an endless, bottomless sand box! Here are a lot of pictures, and I will add some descriptions as I go along.

Paul enjoyed sliding down the dunes a whole lot!
Hannah and her cousins walking…across a desert?
That’s what it looks like.

We all had a really good time at Jockey’s Ridge. Once more, while we were there, I couldn’t help but think how boring it would all be if we didn’t have little kids along to watch them enjoying it and playing in it without inhibition. It was such a delight to see them so happy, and watch what all they discovered to do with that much sand.
