Today I am thankful…
…for a great Sunday School lesson on Genesis 11 (the Tower of Babel)
…that Marie had a better night last night and was up only from 4:00 to 5:00 and I got two 3-hour chunks
of sleep. I felt so much better this morning than I have for days.
…for my dishwasher. I have learned how to use that handy machine and keep up with it and run it often. It makes a big, big difference in my life.
…for my Oreck vacuum cleaner. It’s one of the best presents Andrew ever gave me (a few years ago). I would never have imagined I would love vacuuming, but since I have an Oreck, I enjoy vacuuming a whole lot.
…for my Scotchbrite mop. It makes it so much easier to clean my floors, and I am a whole lot quicker to whip it out and clean up a floor in 5 min. than I ever was to get out the bucket and rag and scrub it on my hands and knees for 20-30 min.
…for two little children who, when it is nap time and I am busy, I can say, “Get your bears and blankies and climb up on your beds and take a nightie-night nap,” and they go in there rooms, close the doors and do just that. I don’t have to beg, take them there, tuck them in, or anything. I can keep on feeding Marie, washing dishes, or whatever. I would never trade our parent-directed parenting style for any other style. I couldn’t handle it.
…that Paul and Hannah stayed in their places all by themselves while I took Marie out to change her dirty diaper during church (Andrew was in the back teaching children’s church). I trusted them, and they proved trustworthy.
…that I have a husband who took over the care of Marie (after I’d nursed her) so I could catch a nap yesterday evening, even though he wasn’t feeling very good and had a lot of work to do.
…that all three of my children are napping at the same time this afternoon so I can take a nap (that’s where I’m headed).
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,…” (James 1:17a)
Praise the Lord.
